What does a visit cost?
A $89 service call covers the trip and the full diagnosis. If you approve the repair it is credited against it, and you hear the price for the work before anything is opened up.
The fresh food side is warm but the freezer is still cold. Is the compressor gone?
Almost never. A Sub-Zero built-in runs two separate refrigeration circuits, so a warm fresh-food section with a cold freezer points at that circuit alone — its evaporator fan, a defrost fault, a thermistor reading wrong, or an air damper stuck. All repairable, and none of it means a new cabinet.
Why does frost come back a week after I defrost the freezer?
Because something is letting humid room air in, or stopping meltwater getting out. In that order: a gasket that no longer seats, a drain line plugged with ice, a failed defrost heater or its thermostat, and a drawer that has been closing on a rail full of frost. Denver air is dry, so when frost rebuilds fast it is nearly always the drain or the seal.
Our water is hard. Does that really matter to an ice maker?
It is the single most common reason a Denver ice maker slows down. Scale crusts the mould and the fill tube, cubes come out hollow or cloudy, and the inlet valve starts to choke. A descale, a filter and often a valve puts production back — replacing the module first is usually money spent on the wrong part.
Does the altitude or the dry air change anything?
Two things, and both show up in wine cabinets first. Mile-high air is dry enough that a humidity control which has quietly stopped working shows up as dried corks long before the temperature readout looks wrong. And in a hot spell a condenser at this altitude moves thinner air, so a coil that would cope at sea level runs the compressor much longer.
A unit failed overnight. When can someone actually come?
The line is answered 24/7, so an overnight failure can have a slot booked before the crew starts, and you can pick one yourself on the booking page at any hour. Visits run 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.
